Okay, let me start of by saying I know. I'm sure there are a never-ending number of blogs and quotes and rants written by women about the contradiction that IS hook-ups between the two genders. I, myself, have never really given it much thought. At all. LIKE, at all. I just didn't care. But now, as I find myself in this little "predicaments," all of these double standards are brought to the forefront. It really is true. It's okay for a guy to have a loose sexual lifestyle, but it's oh-so taboo for a woman to be in the least bit curious and be anything but a prude. I think this stigma will be prevalent until the end of time, but I still think I have the right to bitch. As much as the men in my life (note: I've never had any sort of sexual contact with them, and never will, as they are my family and close friends) would like to imagine me like the Virgin Mary, I am not. And I refuse to apologize for that as well. I'm a normal(-ish) 23-year-old Korean-American female, and I have had sex. Many times. Sometimes good, and sometimes really terrible experiences. There were times that it was with boyfriends, times it wasn't (that's all you need to know). Occasions where we were smart, and just as many where I should have gotten smacked with Karma, and a little "I Told You So." REGARDLESS, I've "done it."

As you can tell, I've recently been faced with these strange rules and standards. I feel like a lot of people throw the "I don't know what happened..That's totally not me"-excuse when they hook up. My argument here is that it WAS YOU. YOU did have sex very early on in knowing the other person. It happened. To say that it's not of your personality is kind of bull shit. There's really no other phrase that I can describe it as. There's that part of you that wants to be promiscuous, and it's there. It's out. It's over. Deal with it. I wouldn't call myself a total floozy who can't manage to keep her legs closed for the span of 24 hours, but I wouldn't say it's not me to let go of my inhibitions and just have sex with someone I'm not in a committed relationship with. Now, maybe you don't casually get it on, but you did just this once. YOU STILL CANNOT SAY THAT HAVING A BRIEF FORNICATION EXPERIENCE IS NOT IN YOUR PERSONAL DESCRIPTION. BECAUSE YOU JUST FUCKING DID IT.

None of this really makes a bit of sense. I just suddenly realized that all of those other women that seemed nagging and lax might have been correct in their argument. Humans are humans, and they have sexual needs. The ones who rarely finds themselves in ANYTHING and the ones that are continuously banging someone else. We're all a bunch of bags of raging hormones, mentally or physically. You are not better than any one of the rest of us. You are not worse than us either.

Blah, blah, blah. This seemed like it was going to be such a well-thought post. Turns out I was wrong.. But what do you think? How open are you with your peers' sexual lives?

As I'm finishing up my one and only (very lonely) glass of champagne, I'm suddenly thrusted to the wall with all the memories and emotions of 2010. Don't worry, this won't be too cheesy (or will it?).. Sometimes I get kind of frustrated with people when they say, "OH MY GOD. I HATED THIS LAST YEAR. DIE DIE DIE." Maybe not that exact statement, but you get the idea. They're just portraying themselves to be so unhappy with the past year, when I know FOR A FACT that they had a pleasant time. Of course, not all days, hours, minutes, and seconds were grand, but overall, they're still breathing. AND this is coming from Ms. Negative Nelly.. sometimes. I have to be honest. The year 2010 was not bad at all. Granted, I didn't get to go on a European vacation like I did in 2009 (sounds so long ago, feels like yesterday), but it had its fantastics peaks. I learned a hell of a lot more than I feel like I ever have in my entire life. Maybe it's because I'm older than I was before.. maybe it's because I'm one slurp away from being finished with this bubbly. Either way, I enjoyed my time with the 10th year of the 21st century (BTW, it took me long enough to figure out the century..). I am honestly so grateful for all of the experiences that landed smack dab in my lap. Bad or good. Whether they made me "dance" with joy, or steam with anger. There are still things to be dealt with in my life, but there will always be. However, at 23-years-YOUNG, I know more of who I am than I have ever known before. I don't hold the level of confidence that I wish I had, but I'm getting there. I have high hopes for 2011. For me, you, and everyone else.

I could totally blab on about sappy stuff, but I won't bore you.. until tomorrow. (: Until then, have a fantastically fantastic night.. and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

soooooooo here's a trend i've been looking at for years now. glaring, even. glaring because i'm not crafty enough to work it on my own, and glaring because i don't think i want to spend 30 bux a pop (plus shipping) for someone else to spend five minutes fandanglin' one up for me. so i finally decided to bite the bullet and go for it. i actually haven't made it yet (or bought any materials for it).

what is it, you ask? just a little buncha feather nonsense. earrings (because i now have my ears pierced. got them done earlier this year in march. 22, and growing up.), "hair extensions" or hair extension clips. either way, they're pretty bad ass. i can't wait to visit my local hobby lobby/michael's and scrounge up all my supplies! it's gonna be radddddd. and maybe if they turn out decent enough to look at, i might sell them on the internets!, and make a fortune.

and then i'll never need to work again!

Health Bloggers Crossing the Line?

I just posted this on my Luuux account (here's a link: ). I hope you guys read the actual article that I'm referring to. It's from the online Marie Claire site. Definitely read this if you don't want to read my actual blog post kind of describing and summarizing what was said.

I don't know how many of you are Marie Claire readers (in print or online), but I just ran across an article via their Twitter (https://twitter.com/marieclaire). It covers a sort of growing trend within the blogosphere. As women (and men) in such a appearance-focused society, we all have our insecurities. We all want to be a little less of THIS, and a little more of THAT. But how much is TOO much? When does focusing on these "imperfections" cross the line?

In the online health and fitness article, "The Hunger Diaries: How Health Writers Can Be Putting You at Risk" from Marie Claire, Katie Drummond so well informed the readers about this "Big Six" and a health-centered convention held for its second year in Chicago. The "Healthy Living Summit" (http://healthylivingsummit.com/) was brought together by six bloggers from around the country, with different career backgrounds. It all sounds like a great support system until now. Their blogs, full photographs of their meals through out the day and descriptions of their exercise routines, are being put under the microscope. Marie Claire states that doctors they consulted about this situation did feel that the women's goal of health and fitness was taking them in the right direction, but there was also an unsettling obsession with the general process. This not only has a tremendous effect on the authors, but also their readers, as they bring in thousands of hits to their online posts each day.

I personally feel that no matter how secure you are in yourself, it is still so easy to fall for the things that other people say. This isn't necessarily their fault, as you have the choice to accept or decline someone else's ideas. But there are obvious signs when something is wrong. I'm not a long-time following of these blogs (or really a follower at all). I'm just finding out about these specific blogs due to the Tweet I ran across. This is such a fine line when it comes to eating disorders, and no one in their "right mind" enables it.

What are your thoughts on this? I suggest you all read this. It's kind of an eye opening experience into the lives of other people, as well as yourself.

okay, i'll be honest. this has very little to do with the cover girl brand mascara.. i'm just at a loss right now when it comes to my true blue makeup companion, mascara. /: i haven't really found one that has made its way into life, stealing my heart. i've stuck with a few maybelline products, but only because they work the "best." not because i'm absolutely in love with them. i have these wild lashes that refuse to do anything they're supposed to. they remind me of a very rebellious 13-year-old with the beginnings of a lot of teen angst. very rarely do they look good all night long. but i guess that's what i "get" for being asian.. jk! but, really.. c'mon, life. deal me a better beauty card! moving on, i've put a lot of money down on different types of mascaras. mascaras that plump, mascaras that vibrate, mascaras that separate and curl and volumize????? my recent (more costly) lash purchase was the ysl volume effect faux cils luxurious mascara. with a name like that (and a price tag of $30), i thought i had it made. i thought after all the youtube beauty guru raving and the beauty blogger hype that this was going to be the ONE. my holy grail of mascaras. ......... unfortunately, it wasn't. i'm not going to chunk it tho. i'll keep working with it.. see if it gets better with age (before i have to throw it out. i'm dumb, not crazy). i'm hoping they'll come out with this exact one, except in a waterproof formula. maybe that's what it's missing for me. NOW for all of you faux cils lovers, don't fret. i do have one or two nice things to say about it. i loveeeee the way it smells. it brings the entire essence of ysl to your eyes. and i swear. when i put this on, i can smell it on my lashes all day. (:
this brings up another product i've been seeing around a lot lately. has anyone used the chanel inimitable intense mascara(waterproof, HALLELUJAH!)?? i'm really curious, and tempted to spend $30 again.
until then, i'll keep my eyes peeled and the search for the perfect mascara going. probably sticking around the drug store aisles for a while. maybe one of you can help me. i'd appreciate getting any of you guys' two cents on all of this.

SOOOO an update on the whole **LYDIA SELLING HER CLOSET** thing. I'm in the process of going thru everything. I have to mentally prepare myself (sad, I know..). i won't even try to deny this, either. i love this show. there's something about it. no matter how bad i want to look away or change the channel, i don't. sometimes i even specifically tune into mtv on tuesday nights for it. despite these girls (women) being the older, more mature(?) equivalent of e!'s Pretty Wild, i still like this. i justify my attraction with the fact that they apparently hold pretty decent careers (educationally or otherwise), social lives, and stay out of burglaries.

but here's an update about nothing.
i just had a pretty pointless conversation about, what else? but disposable cameras with one of my really good friends. they had no idea of my infatuation with these (in my opinion) ingenious inventions. they thought it was quite "interesting and ironic" that i liked these items. when asked why they felt this way, i received this response:

"Because u pride urself in having nice shit..like id expect u to have a nice camera"

then, gave them this RIVETING comment:

"haha, i do. but there's something i like about disposable cameras. like, the rawness of their final product. i think i've talked about this with you, or someone. who knows. i've always been really obsessed with one-time use cameras since i was really young. they're just another essential to me."

they told me i'd start a trend.. when have disposable cameras NOT been cool!?

kidrobot is coming to dallas. i'm not really getting as hyped as everyone else in the area. or, really at all. sure, the toys are fun. sometimes cute. but anyone above the age of 14 should not be caught dead in their apparel. i do not understand the excitement, but i guess it just goes to show.. "to each his own." however, when an h&m comes to the dfw area, call me. until then, please stop facebook inviting me to events concerning this shit.

i should really be finishing my paper that's due on fri. or is it monday? i don't really know. but i can't get my brain to just stop and concentrate. there are too many potential plans floating in the air. there are too many things going on for me to think about right now. luckily tho, i feel like i'm finally finding my place in the world. i'm beginning to know what it means to live. i'm so excited to be in the position that i am in right now. no matter how stressful or boring it gets at times. i know that i deserve respect, and sometimes i have to demand it from some. and then at other times, it's necessary for me to just back away in order to gain that same respect. within the past several months, i feel that i am finally learning who i am. i'm excited to start this growing up process. i know that in the bleakest moments, i can get thru them. i know that in the end, even when most people don't care, my best friends and my family will be by my side. they know me the best. maybe even better than myself.

okay. there's a fine line between fresh and freak....... i am a long-time american apparel patriot, but there are some things they produce that would make satan, himself, roll his beady red eyes in disgust. i've been contemplating whether to bring this up, and i finally decided i had to. ranging from $40-$75, they have brought a colorful range of sunglasses and eyeglasses to the table. now i'm all for bringing back some of the vintage style, but you can take it a little too far. i love the nerd-esque look, but channeling your inner steve eurkel? not as cool. maybe i'm too fashion conservative, you tell me

OKAY. i apologize beforehand. i said i was done with the serious, deep blogs, but who am i kidding? i'm an intellectual at heart. i can't stray from my roots for long. :) but i'll be back with my random ramblings about the latest gadgets, the hottest styles, the most recent celebrity gossip, and whatever else guiltily pleasures you.

now on to the serious shh. today is monday, october 6th, 2008. not only was a new episode of the hills aired tonight at 10/9 central........ but today was officially the LAST day to register to vote in texas, and several other states. a few weeks ago i asked several of my friends if they were going to vote. to my surprise, they all (about four or five) said "no" consecutively. what was even more appalling was their reasoning. what was the basis of their argument? "i don't like either one of them." first of all, how ignorant does that sound? secondly, there are more than two candidates running for president. i understand their judgement on that though. i think it is more likely for the second coming to come before someone else really makes their mark in this race. i just don't understand how they could let such a huge event pass them by. for the next four years, they will be under one man. i'm not even really sure how they expect to "like" everything one single person stands for. it kills me to see OUR GENERATION letting our comfort get the best of us. we have become so lazy and insecure. we have lost the will to make decisions for ourselves if things are not set out on the table in front of us. we have such a false image of ourselves. we have not moved on and grown up and changed things for anyone. if anything, the people who are making excuses and sitting back and watching their futures pass them by are the ones who are, ultimately, going to make us go backwards. it makes me ashamed to be grouped in generation-y. we are so arrogant and blissful and peace and love. don't get me wrong. i would strive for peace. i think our ultimate goal is peace, but how naive have we become? open your eyes to what is going on! you cannot change things by sitting on your fat, ever-growing ass and expect things to "get better." YOU are going to be the ones within the next several years who cannot stand what america has become. YOU are going to be the ones complaining about taxes and global warming and health care and all the social issues going around right now. get up. declare yourself. take action. quit with all the deep thought about how you're not going to vote for something you don't believe in. i understand the importance of having value and morale and beliefs. but i think it's even worse to vote for nothing. there are so many issues going on in this year's election. please, please, please! read about the candidates running for the 2008 election, and vote, vote, vote! on november 4th, 2008! how can you avoid your own future like this? we are so adamant in being individuals and speaking out. how have we become so silent as a generation now?

it kills me to think of how things will be if things keep going like this. our country only keeps growing, so with every four years, there are more and more eligible voters in our country. remember to do your part this november. and grow up

okay. enough of this serious business. i have just run across a few blogs that have really inspired me. lately the true blogger has been brought out in me. and now it's not just saved for myself in a private, password-required diary on my macbook. i'm definitely starting with humble beginnings, bad grammar, and ongoing thoughts, but i think that will all work out in the end. and make me famous. eventually. probably not :)

my current obsession is running across celebrities in clothes that i, too, own. actually, that has only happened once, and just now. and who is my twin, you ask? none other than miss hilton. i guess this means i should have "tried out" for paris' i wanna be paris' new best friend. oh well. if this anything like a shot at love with tila tequila, there will be at least one more chance for me. anyways, i know you're dying to see the brilliance that is ME, and my fashion sense, that has brought me to "the heiress."

loyalty and trust

i'm not sure if i'm just old fashioned, or what the deal is. lately i've just kind of been observing my own relationships, and i've come to the (sad) conclusion that a lot of people that i felt closest to do not view loyalty and friendship as seriously as i do. and if they really feel that they do, they have an extremely strange way in showing it. it makes me sad. being one of those people who have a really difficult time in even letting someone in, it's really discouraging to see them totally take advantage of you. i don't think everyone is out to get me tho. i realize sometimes things just pass your mind, but it can't be an excuse as much as it seems to be. that carelessness can only be taken so far, and then it's just being a bad friend. i think this is just all in a matter of growing up, but i wish people would grow up a little faster, and a little more in sync with myself. now, don't get me wrong. i know i'm not the most mature woman. i laugh at myself when i fart. i can't control myself when others have black things stuck in their teeth. but i know when a real friend comes my way. i think that's what makes it so hard for me to imagine how people can just let others pass by them. it scares me for them tho. like people act the way they do and take advantage of the people they "care" about until the point where the person just can't handle it, and walk out of their life. but the people who stick are going to be the ones who hurt them. i'm just wondering where trust went out of fashion, i guess. i haven't lost my faith everyone. i have a handful of people in my life that i wouldn't give up for the world, and i know how blessed i am to have these three wonderful people in my life. well, maybe a few more. :) i just hope that we all grow up and open up our eyes to the people right in front of us, instead of acting so selfish and in the moment. as we've all soon, forever is not really that long at all, and i just want to make the most of my life, and my friendships. when i first started writing this, i was really bummed and sad about people not really holding our friendship or relationship as highly as i felt like i did, but now i feel a lot better. it kind of helped me to see the friendships and people in my life mean so much more than anything else.

i understand it's completely selfish of me, but when i think about it, i really don't like the way my life turned out. there's a lot of things i wish i could change about it. some of the stuff is very superficial, like money or my physical appearance. it's not like my family has ever been in any sort of financial crunch. some stuff, like my personality, might be a little deeper. i don't know if i would classify any of it as totally serious. honestly, i wanna be prettier, skinnier, smarter, funnier, more outgoing, more personable. i want to have more money to buy cuter, more expensive stuff MORE often. everything is an 'i want,' of course. i don't need it. if i really needed it, i would have it. i know i should be happy and content with what i have, but no matter how hard i seem to try, i'm never okay with it. i wish i knew the people 'closest' to me better. i want to have special memories with them without it being forced. i want those relationships that will never break, no matter what anyone says or does. but really, i'd want to change my physical appearance before anything. i want to be accepted into something that i actually want to be accepted into. i want a sense of closure. i want this blog to become really well known so i can become famous and get interviews and lots and lots of money. the end

well, it's that time of year again--my birthday. i'm 19. honestly, it's really not that exciting. i mean, you can't do anything "new" that you haven't been able to do, or haven't already done even if you're not legally supposed to do it. there are no new priveledges, no nothing. i need to wait two more years for that. as fast as the past couple years have gone, that still seems like a long time. flkasjdfjaklsd i could prob go without my birthday this year, and for the next few. idk, i guess they're just getting so redundant, and lonely. i mean, i'm celebrating with my family and j. a few other people tell me happy birthday, but that's after the fact. or, after i tell them. i should appreciate it either way, but i can't help but kind of resent them for not already knowing. blahblahblah anyhooooo.. right now i'm boring myself in the dark, waiting for j to get out of my bed. i'm getting more and more restless and anxious. i think i'm gonna go wake him up. maybe some sort of update on the rest of the day later.

Camp was probably the worst experience, ever. Not really, it was just a gigantic waste of my time, and my parent's money. Freaking awesome. If you ask me something I regret, there it is. The one thing I think I will ever regret: church camp. Thank God, I'm back. No pun intended. I'm just pissed I wasted so much of my time with such ignorant people. And I think I'll continue that adventure with naive, arrogant individuals TODAY! How exciting. I'm hoping for one thing, and that is for everything to go back to normal, or, as normal as it can be. That basically just means everything like it was before we went to stupid Maranatha. I always did seem to have a spectacular vocabulary. It's pretty visible, wouldn't you agree? Anyways, I'm not going back to camp unless my parents do what they did this year, and the other 2 years: Turn in my deposit/money without my acknowledging it. I don't know if that makes sense, and I really don't give a crap about it. Or, anything. Oh, I just need an attitude adjustment. Forget it. I'm going to take a shower.

Anyways, yesterday was a freaking joke. It's gonna go down in history, which is ridiculous. But, I guess this isn't the first time we haven't settled for the worst, or easiest way. It really pisses me off that some crazy ass can go and fuck little boys, and all these people turn out to be just as crazy as he is. Don't argue with me. If they think it's okay to go around and bang underaged children, and then, HELL! Let's make the story even better by adding the fact that they're BOYS in there. There's nothing wrong with that, at all. Ughh.. I would like to hear a sincere "No, I did not do this.." without this bastard giving some lame ass excuse about how he's extremely sick. Jeeze..If anyone should know about making excuses on health, it's me, and he's a goddamn liar. I mean, a lot of good him being innocent is. He's def not gonna go around and mses with a bunch of young boys again. And he's def gonna make a huge comeback now..dancing back on the big stage,and everything! I'm glad I just had the most ridiculous conversation of my life. It took up like 15 minutes of my day, and now I have lost 15 minutes of my life. Isn't that just tragic? Hm...I know. Anyways, exactly a week from tomorrow (Sunday), I leave for Nebraska, and I have this terrible feeling that it will be the most uncomfortable trip I will ever take. And by 'uncomfortable' I mean it in a _______ way. I forget the word. I miss the good ole' days when all I really worried about was whether or not the twenty-five year old in the back of church had a crush on me, or not. Actually, I've been worrying since I was old enough to dream!! AMAZING. I used to have these horrible dreams full of stress. I guess I could have made a movie out of them.
